about me!
Indya Cherise is an actor based in NYC with a love for storytelling on both stage and screen. Most recently, she appeared in CHASING GRACE, a new musical Off-Broadway at the A.R.T./ New York Mezzanine Theatre in NYC in March 2026. This Goodyear, Arizona native discovered acting very early on, having participated in local theatre, talent shows, and choir for as long as she can remember. She attended NYU Tisch Drama in 2021, and has since graduated from The New York Conservatory as of May 2024. Since then she has kept busy, appearing Off-Broadway twice, in various regional theatre, and starring in several short films.
Indya is known to bring a unique feeling of timelessness to the contemporary world of storytelling- with a dynamic vocal range and a soulful expression of speech and movement. Whether it is comedy, drama, or somewhere in between, Indya believes in the power of telling real stories, and works hard to dig deep to discover the humanity that lies in every character. When she is not working, you can find her cooking new recipes, doing hot mat Pilates, writing, and giggling uncontrollably with her loved ones.

Indya Cherise portrays Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the unheralded champion of Elvis’s early love of music, who offers shrewd maternal mentoring in a world dominated by egotistical men. Even amid the high-energy musical numbers and hopping choreography, Cherise’s depth and magnetic presence anchor with emotional depth and calm intensity. You’ll be mesmerized by her poignant monologue describing the cost of chasing greatness, giving voice to the industry’s overlooked women. With subtle gestures, Cherise captures the complexity of a woman navigating her own dreams, disappointments and compromises, believing in Elvis long before the rest of the world.
